The 1976 SOHC model you see here was requested specifically by Reynolds - he'd learnt to ride on an early CB750 and as is often the case, we hold the bike we started on in high regard, even years after the fact. He contacted Mike from Raccia Motorcycles and the two men began hashing out a plan for the new bike, it was to be a ground-up.

The basic ingredients are the same as the shop's first café racer, a black and yellow Honda CB750 dubbed " The Spider " — same base, engine, geometry, and wheels — but with a more retro design focus: "The first Honda had a neo-sport design, and so we were very keen to see the new bike in a retro-classic look."

Many consider the F series bikes less appealing than the earlier models, but we've been proven wrong by the Oficina MRS RC42 CB750 cafe racer.Granted the only parts of the original bike that remain are the frame and engine (and they've even been reworked), but at least Oficina front man Mario wasn't afraid to give it a go.

09/20/2016 - 09:55. 1979 Honda CB750 Cafe Racer. Starting from a stock bike, we overhauled this bike to turn out one little cool Cafe. The bike was stripped down to the frame and bolts. We cut the tail off and built a custom seat hump and seat. In the end of the frame we capped off the ends and buried in a set of LED blinkers.

Unlike many of the Honda CB750's I see converted in to Cafe Racers this one started out as a mid 90's Nighthawk. The Nighthawk was the most powerful and lightest of the entire CB750 range ('69 to '07) producing 75bhp and weighing a fraction over 210kg. This would generally make it the ideal candidate for an open throttle street racer.
